(Techradar) – IN CONVERSATION WITH TAE LEÓN, NIKKI BLACKKETTER AND MELISSA FIFTIA
Designed to empower and exude confidence in any girl who tries its fit; Ultra Seamless was the first product-led campaign which epitomised the notion of freedom through expression.
How we define expression changes constantly. It doesn’t mean to dress outlandish, or be to perfectly co-ordinated by means of style. Instead, it can simply be shown by people who use all parts of their body and their voice, in order to change their surroundings and the space between them and others.
Subsequently, this specific campaign saw us converse with 9 strong, powerful women to get a better understanding of what clothing – as a form of expression – meant to them.
Without knowing it, a common mutual undertone was found between Tae, Nikki and Melissa…
IN CONVERSATION WITH: TAE
“I don’t think that my style conveys my personality. At least, not accurately… I’m very loud, bubbly and happy and my style is pretty conservative. I’m not trying to draw attention to myself – I don’t accessorise and I’m drawn to dark clothing.”
“IN DAY-TO-DAY LIFE, STANDING OUT IS A BIT OF A CONCERN, BUT IN THE GYM – ABSOLUTELY NOT. I WANT TO SHINE IN THE GYM. IT’S A PLACE WHERE I FEEL COMFORTABLE, I FEEL STRONG AND I WANT MY OUTFIT TO MATCH THAT ENERGY.”
[Wearing Ultra Seamless]: “I feel like I’m letting people know that I am a confident, happy woman that loves her body and is happy with herself; content with where she is, and is just doing great things in life.”
IN CONVERSATION WITH: NIKKI
“I wear a lot of oversized clothing! I guess people would see someone who is trying to look smaller, or less noticeable…
Admittedly, I am more comfortable [when I’m] in the gym, so I wouldn’t mind standing out so much. But, in day-to-day life, I’d rather be invisible.”
“I THINK CLOTHING EVOKES EMOTION. IF I FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE IN WHAT I’M WEARING, THEN I CAN’T ACT MYSELF. I DON’T TO OVERTHINK THE WAY I LOOK, OR HOW PEOPLE ARE GOING TO PERCEIVE ME.”
[Wearing Ultra Seamless]: It’s giving me a little pep talk – it’s energetic and I think that’s needed in the gym. I feel more vibrant! People are definitely going to notice this colour in a room of people wearing neutrals – I’m definitely okay with that.
IN CONVERSATION WITH: MELISSA
“I love wearing black all the time , it’s just so easy – but I feel like I’ve a very bubbly personality, I get on with so many people, which might not necessarily reflect that.”
I ACTUALLY LAUGH ABOUT THIS WITH MY MOM BECAUSE SHE WILL WEAR VIBRANT COLOURS ALL THE TIME AND SHE’S SO SO BUBBLY. I JUST LOVE THAT HER PERSONALITY MATCHES WHAT SHE’S WEARING.”
“My Mom genuinely is the best example of this; the more she’s feeling good, the brighter the colour she’ll wear. For me, it’s a little different – as long as I’m comfortable, I’m confident.”
